Lake Lucerne Piers
Luzern

The traditional main departure point for SGV services has been the several piers at the Bahnhofquai, which takes its name from being directly in front of the railway station. The statue-topped decorative arch of the former station building, seen behind the funnel of PS Unterwalden (in 1997) above, was retained when the classical building was removed and replaced by a larger modern structure. Mount Pilatus dominates the view over the city.

The view out over the Vierwaldstattersee is dominated by Mount Rigi. PS Uri reverses out on an afternoon servicein 1997 to Weggis and Vitznau, two resorts which nestle between the lakeside and the foot of Rigi.

Local services provided by smaller motor vessels use piers on the opposite bank of the river from the Bahnhofquai. MV Rutli is seen in 1999.
