OUR CRUISES

We are based at Largs pier and offer morning and afternoon cruises on Saturdays and Sundays from May to September inclusive

The morning cruise takes you through the narrow channel between Bute and the mainland known as the Kyles of Bute, gives views of the distant but nonetheless impressive island of Arran and offers you a close-up encounter with the two Cumbrae islands lying in the middle of the Firth.

The afternoon cruise heads up the Firth of Clyde via Rothesay Bay and the Cowal coast, passing the entrance to the Gareloch and heads briefly into Loch Long, a beautiful steep-sided sea loch. The ship turns near the Tail o'the Bank and returns along the Inverclyde and Ayrshire coast

Stay aboard and do both cruises : Those who wish to do both cruises are welcome to stay on board for the full day. Buy an "All-day" ticket before you step aboard to get the best price.

SAILING WITH US

Buying your Ticket :  Please arrive in good time (at least 20 minutes before sailing time) at Largs pier where our ticket seller will issue tickets.  Pay by cash or by major debit or credit card.

Advance bookings are not taken except for Groups of 10 or over (for which advance payment at the Group rate is required). Unfortunately, your place aboard is not guaranteed and if the available places have already been sold when you reach our ticket-seller, you will not be able to sail with us.

Ticket Inspection / Collection : Inspections may take place anytime aboard the ship and all tickets will be collected at the gangway when you get off the ship

Reserving space aboard on popular days : We expect very few of our sailings, if any, to be sold out, but if we believe that there is a possibility, we will advise the specific cruise dates on our website. In such cases we will make a limited number of spaces aboard available for reservation for people coming from outside the west of Scotland area. To receive a unique booking reference for these cruises, please contact us by e-mail. Customers with advance booking references are asked to go to the front of the ticket queue at the pier of departure and advise our ticket seller. If reserved passengers have not presented themselves at least 10 minutes prior to the ship's departure, the reservation will be cancelled and the space sold. Seats aboard the ship cannot be reserved.

Food and Drink :  Bring your own if you like but we've got a range of sandwiches, soups, snacks, sweets, hot and soft drinks for you.  Alcohol is not available and may not be brought  aboard and any alcohol found by our crew will be confiscated.

Accessibility : Our friendly crew will assist anyone who requires help to board the ship across the gangway. Our promenade deck is most suitable for physically disabled customers as the main and observation decks are only accessible by steep stairs. The promenade deck has plenty of outdoor seating, and dedicated space in two saloons, fore and aft. Our crew will be happy to serve food and drink to customers in these saloons if required. A disabled toilet is also available on the promenade deck. Please ask any member of our crew for access,

Dogs are welcome : please just ensure that they remain on a lead and under your control at all times

OUR SHIP

Our ship is the Paddle Steamer Caledonia
Paddle steamers have, for almost two centuries, been a much-loved presence on the Firth of Clyde, delighting locals and visitors alike, taking tourists to pretty resorts or showing them the magnificence of the local scenery. Those delights are the same today as they always have been and our ship maintains this strong tradition, combining elements of the past with the expectations of the modern day excursionist.
