Southampton, Isle of Wight & Portsmouth Improved Steamboat Co
Set up by in 1860 to run two new steamers from Southampton to Cowes in the 1861 season in opposition to the two existing operators who, for the 1861 season, merged to form the Southampton, Isle of Wight & South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Co.

The venture was not successful, with the company being wound up on account of bankruptcy in 1862 and after a period of cooperation between the two companies, the assets of the "Improved Steamboat Company" were taken over by the earlier "Southampton" company in 1865.
