Frederik Hendrikplantsoen / Marnixplein (canal crossing)
The
route simplification following the opening of the north-south Metro
line had reercussions well away from the areas directly affected by the
new service. This included the north-south tram lines in the inner
western parts of the city.
The
lines to Zoutkeetsgracht and Westergasfabriek (van Hallstraat) were
rearranged so that they no longer crossed at the canal bridge between
Frederik Hendriksplatsoen and Marnixplein, remaining discrete and now
requiring a 250 metre walk to change lines.
