Ron Livett

Ron Livett.jpg
t is with sadness that I report that Ron Livett died on April 4th 2012
Ben Mann of the Liquid Highway website wrote "Those who were lucky enough to have known Ron and those who were lucky enough to have worked with him, I am sure we all agree that Ron was the greatest of tug skippers. If anyone knew the River Thames and how to handle a tug and tow, Ron did. He always had a love for the River Thames and those around him. A very special person admired by everyone"

Ron was a highly respected figure on the Thames and his enormous expertise was called upon more than once to see Queen Mary to and from her up-river berth in London. As the largest ship to get as far as under Waterloo Bridge, getting her there in 1988 was no mean feat and Ron was last called upon to move her to Tilbury in September 2009 in an equally demanding operation. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him. Thanks Ron for your contribution to the Queen Mary story.
