A classic view of the steamer landing stages in Dresden but featuring some of the modern GDR-ers housing blocks which are a major feature of the city which was badly destroyed by allied bombing raids during the second world war. Out of shot to the right is the city centre, where many of Dresden's magnificent baroque buildings have been painstakingly restored and in some cases completely rebuilt.
