Firth of Clyde, Scotland
Greenock & Helensburgh Steamboat Company
Formed in 1865 to provide an improved service to the Gareloch from Greenock and Helensburgh and managed by Graham Brymner, a well-known Greenock tug manager who was also entering the steamboat trade separately on his own account. Four small steamers were built and PS Nelson was purchased from Henderson & McKellar.

The venture failed and by 1869 the company had been dissolved. Nelson was sold in 1868, Rosneath and Ardencaple in 1869. Craigrownie had been launched in 1870 but sold along with the two remaining vessels to Keith and Campbell who had earlier purchased PS Ardencaple
